(Yona Marie)

The journey of a musician is what one should learn a lot from to understand what “Never Give Up” really means. Today, on Guitaa Artist Centerstage, we are talking about Yona Marie. The Maryland based singer, is famous for her soothing voice and has been writing songs for almost all her life.

So, we caught up with the prolific musician to find out how her journey into music began, about her memorable performance, and how did she maintain such an amazing voice.

Introduce yourself to our audience, what genre of music do you consider your work to be?

My name is Yona Marie and I create music within the genres of R&B, Pop, and Hip Hop. You can check out and download my latest song here that has flavors of Pop and R&B: https://www.pushpowerpromo.com/yona-marie-pull-me-back

What and who were your early passions and influences, What inspires you to make music?

My early influences came from my many family members that have musical talents. They raised me in the world of music and taught me everything they know.

Tell us about that one memorable performance and favorite venue which you still wish to happen again?

A memorable performance of mine is when I was able to perform with a full orchestra at a benefit concert at a community called Cedar Lane UU. It was amazing being able to work with so many highly talented individuals and to have an audience be able to experience such a full sound.

Any funny Story of a fuck up during your performance where you handled that situation like nothing happened?

I often forget words while performing; I like to ooo and ahhh my way through the melody until I get back on track. People probably notice, but it still sounds good so it works.

If you could collaborate with any musicians(dead/alive), who would you collaborate with and why?

Beyonce. There’s not much to say. It’s because she’s Beyonce lol. But seriously, Beyonce is one of my most revered inspirations among celebrities in the entertainment world. Her work ethic, passion, and devotion to her career is simply unmatched. I don’t even need to collaborate with her musically, I’d just like to be able to speak to her!

Any Tips to keep the balance between professional and music life?

Daily and weekly task lists that are planned ahead help me to keep balance in my life.

What has been your biggest challenge as a Musician? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

My biggest challenge is being a musician as an introvert. I love to share my music with the world, but I like being private about everything else. Some people assume you’re just an extroverted open book when you’re a singer.

What Tools and techniques you use to improve your singing/instrumental playing?

I like singing along to Youtube karaoke tracks of popular songs to practice my singing technique. I also regularly go to rehearsals for music groups that I’m involved in.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to become an Artist?

My advice would be to put consistency at the top of your goals for your music career. Consistency can make or break anyone trying to be successful in any area of their life. This is something I’m working on.
